Shanti(san'ti) Peace and contentment through body, mind and soul

I am Destiny S. Olsen, owner of SHAUNTEA, established in 2012.
In 2009, I graduated from the University of Utah with a BFA in Modern Dance and Education. During my collegiate years I studied
Bartenieff Fundamentals, Somatics, Feldenkrais Method, Anatomy, Kinesiology, Childhood Development, and Various Traditional Dance Styles. Upon graduation, I began teaching through the public and private sectors harnessing tradition to refugees through West African Dance, creative exploration to children and somatic movement as a therapeutic approach for domestic violence and rape recovery survivors. After years of teaching, I valued incorporating mindfulness techniques into movement classes.
I received my Yoga Teacher Certification in 2012. Yoga Nidra, Ayurveda, Mantra and Meditation peaked my interest during training and I am persistently exploring more on the 8-fold path of yoga. I teach in many facets throughout our local community, some of which include: the Women and Children’s Center, Centered City Yoga, schools and private sessions. I also teach healing, therapeutic classes to sexual assault survivors through Helping SAVE and UVU. More recently, I trained in Prenatal Yoga to give specialized classes to those expecting.
In 2015, I obtained my Birth and Postpartum Doula Certifications through DONA International in California.  Through the years I've helped many families grow whether it is through adoption, surrogacy or pregnancy. I believe everyone deserves to grow their family how they choose and I am here to help you achieve that!
To deepen the care for my doula and yoga clients, I started the  SHAUNTEA Health and Wellness Coalition in 2016. This group of professionals is committed to building a bridge towards optimum health, even if you aren't expecting.  The team includes sessions for: Yoga, Meditation, Somatics, Chiropractic Care, Chinese Medicine, Nutrition, Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, Reiki Energy Work, and Pilates. Together, we are committed to developing new innovative ways to teach our community about themselves through preventative, approachable health care.
In 2018, I trained through ICEA to gain my Childbirth Education Certificate and am teaching six week courses to expectant parents at St. Marks Hospial.

Because I am dedicated to growing a joyful community, I started a free weekly parenting group, SHAUNTEA's Sunshine Crew that connects parents to one another and our local resources.

I am actively involved with the following organizations: Trauma Informed Care Network, Maternal Mental Health Collaborative, DONA International, ICEA, Utah Doula Association and the Yoga Alliance. I have also received special trainings in: Safe Talk, a suicide screening and prevention technique, Maternal Mental Health Screenings, Postpartum Support International, First Aide Certification for infants, children and adults.

I am continually studying and deepening my knowledge of the body, the 8-fold path of yoga, the processes of prenatal care, labor support and the postpartum period.
In my spare time, I enjoy adventuring to new places and taking care of eclectic animals in my wildlife habitat with my partner, Taylor, and two cats, Kiki and Downtown.
